Makers Empire
Makers Empire is a company that creates educational software to introduce young people (4-13 year old students) to "design thinking" and "3D printing" while delivering measurable STEM outcomes. A truly visionary start-up company making real positive world changes, it was a pleasure working with them. I really enjoyed watching the young future design leaders of the world use the Makers Empire software which I helped to create.
I was engaged to produce the software's interface (UI / UX) and all relative artwork to do with the company.
As the software was aimed at a younger audience, the interface needed to be simple, clean and fun to use, while delivering the outcome of achieving and unlocking learning potentials and at the end of the day finish with an actual 3D print of their work. It also needed to run on a variety of major platforms - Windows, Mac, iPads and Chrome books.
The other side of the company, what I call "the business end" had to show that it was also very serious in delivering a high level of childhood education.
The company always had to be "on brand" in all customer facing relations. I designed and delivered consistency amongst all communication materials, web presence and education portals and across a huge variety of print mediums including new mediums like 3D modelling and 3D printable objects.
I also created cartoon characters known to younger users of the software as the "Masked Makers". These were created to deliver the message that they (young users of Makers Empire software and learning materials) can be a creator or maker and solve real world issues.
During my time with Makers Empire I was fortunate enough to collaborate with "Jim Davis" - the creator of the very popular "Garfield" comic strip.
